Text Box: Don’ t be alarmed

The installation of our new Fire Alarm system is now complete. The ever changing legislation had decreed that the whole system be updated throughout the house and after 3 or 4 days of endless “testings” during installation and a hefty bill of around £37,000, we are now compliant with the legal requirements.
Text Box: Just the right place!

We have been called upon in recent months to be the venue for a variety of occasions. As you all know we are used by Church Groups for weeks or weekends throughout the year, for our own organised Houseparties, for Day Visitors from schools, primary care trusts, local businesses, surgeries etc. and more frequently lately, for the more personal events in your lives.
We have hosted weddings, family birthday parties and funeral teas in the last few months, and as well as being able to offer this excellent venue in a beautiful setting with a large, safe parking area, we can also provide overnight accommodation (if the number of guests wishing to stay is more than 10). We are willing and happy to tailor the menus to your exact requirements and have a selection of choices and prices we can show you as a starting point. Put us at the top of your list of venues to call, it could save you a lot of time and trouble.

Spring clean!

Sometimes, even at home, though your bedroom may be spotlessly clean, things can start to look a little “tired” and worn.  We are taking this slightly quieter period in our diary to brighten up some of our areas.  New carpets in some corridors and rooms, matching bedroom furniture, and brighter, fresher quilt covers and curtains to give things that little extra lift.  All of these things are costly but essential if we wish to remain a venue worth revisiting.

Golden Sunsets

Quite often October can be one of the most surprising months in the Sussex calendar, with comfortable, sunny days and warm, golden evenings.

We still have some availability if you wish to book for the Autumn Retreat, 20th—24th October.  This break offers a Morning and Evening time of Bible study with the afternoons free to enjoy fellowship or to take outings into the Sussex countryside.  Ring Maggie for more details.

Text Box: God Bless us every one

As always our Christmas Houseparty was very quickly fully booked. We start accepting bookings in February and by March it is necessary to close the books. Those on the “waiting list” are eager to fill the gap if any of our guests are unable to come for whatever reason. With our new chef, Carl Chumbley, ready to show off his expertise, we were able to offer a rich and delicious selection of meals and treats. The whole programme of events went smoothly and we were also blessed as this year there was no illness or the need for emergency call outs to doctors or ambulances. We have had an endless stream of thank you letters, many of them voicing the opinion that this Christmas Houseparty was “the best ever”.

Update

In the Autumn Newsletter you may remember that we were all very concerned for the health of our treasured Trustee, Barbara Miller.  We are pleased to say that she is almost fully recovered and able to minister to us here at Pilgrim Hall and others of her flock once more.  Truly an answer to prayer.

Text Box: Swimming Pool Changing Rooms’ Roof

The roof of the swimming pool changing rooms will require a rebuild. This building was originally a stable block and over the years has been transformed into a Ladies and Gents changing rooms, a pump room for the pool and an ice-cream parlour during the summer months. We don’t think it is the original roof, but it must be at least 40/50 years old. Some of the timbers have rotted and this has resulted in the roof shifting. Our in-house maintenance team will tackle this task over the next couple of months. Hopefully it will all be ready for the summer opening of the pool in May.
